NYS Senator Peter Harckham Announces “Traveling with Dignity Act” at CP Unlimited Hudson Valley
Brewster, NY – New York State Sen. Pete Harckham will announce his new legislation, the “Traveling with Dignity Act,” at a special press conference at 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, Nov. 6 with leaders from CP Unlimited Hudson Valley, alongside members of the disability community, advocates and veterans in Brewster, NY at CP Unlimited Hudson Valley (ground floor—entrance in back of building), 15 Mount Ebo Road South, Brewster, NY. The legislation was informed and prompted by conversations with CP Unlimited advocates and direct support professionals on issues around dignity, access and inclusion that people with I/DD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) encounter when attending large gatherings and events at public facilities.
The “Traveling with Dignity Act” will provide for adult changing tables to be placed within an enclosed restroom facility or other similar private facility to be made available for persons with disabilities, veterans, seniors or other individuals in public roadside rest areas, museums, public libraries, public buildings and amusement attractions.
