A Day for the I/DD Community Honoring Susan Constantino at the Elks Lodge in the Hudson Valley
Susan Constantino, President & CEO of CP Unlimited from 1989-2022, was honored by a group of local officials and organizations in Hudson Valley on July 31, 2022. The event, held at the Elks Lodge in Brewster, NY, was an opportunity for people supported by various area agencies to enjoy a cool dip in their sparkling pool while noshing on delicious cookout classics!
The ceremony featured a variety of presentations we spotlight below, starting with a lovely recognition from the Elks.
“I am so proud to have this from you guys…I thank you on behalf of the people of NY State who know what you do for them all the time. No matter what you are always there for us,” Susan Constantino said in her thank you speech to their leaders.
Senator Peter Harckham was on hand to present a Proclamation to Susan for her years of service to the I/DD community.
Susan was quick to also cite the Senator Harckham’s commitment to the people we support, saying “He is just so concerned, so interested, and [this honor] means so much coming from you Senator!”
Susan also received a citation from New York State Assembly Member Kevin Byrne (94th District) which was presented by newly minted President & CEO Joseph M. Pancari. Watch the “story” online!
And, from CP Unlimited’s Hudson Valley division, Susan was honored by Penny Lynn-Pagliaro, Executive Director, with an award and painting of the beach—one of her favorite places—by one of our persons supported.
Most importantly, attendees were able to see the result of Susan’s advocacy and support: a new, portable lift for people with mobility issues, allowing them full use of the Elks Lodge pool! This device—modeled with Susan—will greatly increase independence and access for people throughout the region with disabilities.
It was a sunny, special, and memorable day and we were happy to convene the Hudson Valley community to help celebrate Susan Constantino and the many strides made to help create ongoing opportunities for people with I/DD to lead fulfilling lives.
