The CP Family Celebrates Lunar New Year
Members of the CP team and people we support joined to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a Chinese Calligraphy exercise at our Central Office and livestreamed to Day Habilitation and Residential programs—keeping in mind themes of peace, good fortune, prosperity, and health.
From learning the background about different types of calligraphy and how to hold a brush (probably made with weasel, goat, or badger hair), to the meaning of different characters and traditional blessings, participants were able to create and paint while deepening cross-cultural understanding. Our team learned the importance of Chinese calligraphy—an art form that is intended to be a time of peace and meditation, while also being an expression of one’s character and personality.
Thanks to our friends at the China Institute in America who partnered with us to put on the workshop!
