Dancing, Decoding, and Drumming Up Fun with Kibu in Long Island City
The CPU community at the Agency’s Day Habilitation program in Long Island City was enlivened by the presence of Billy Blanks, Jr. and the Kibu crew, who set up shop for an afternoon of dancing, games, and tons of high-energy fun! Kibu, an online learning platform for persons with disabilities, is a partner with CP Unlimited in a variety of educational efforts.
Kicking off with some movement exercises to get our bodies limber, Blanks led happy participants through a routine of moves, dances, and stretches designed to make them stronger and more mobile.
The soundtrack was a mix of classic pop and familiar tunes which motivated singing alongside the dancing on display!
The party moved into a nearby classroom where Blanks, Jr. and the folks from Kibu helped our team guide people we support in an enjoyable back and forth of lip-reading. Winners received a pair of light up drum sticks for use in future jamming.
