2023 in Review: A Letter from Joseph M. Pancari
Dear Friends of CP,
As we prepare to close out the year with holiday parties and celebrations throughout the CP Unlimited network, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on a year of expansion, elevation, and excellence for the Agency- one unlike any other in our nearly 80-year history.
Behind each step forward is the collective energies and efforts of our 2,200+ person team. Without their united commitment to the people we support, CP Unlimited could not have the impact we do on more than 1,000 families across New York City and the Hudson Valley.
Help CP Unlimited grow its ability to help people with I/DD achieve fulfilling lives and donate before December 31!
In 2023, we cultivated dynamic avenues through which to apply our mission to help people with I/DD achieve fulfilling lives. In the real world, this meant providing supports for newly arrived immigrants now settled in East New York, Brooklyn, while opening new residential settings in Yonkers, New York and multiplying our presence in Jamaica, Queens and other communities. We also extended our transformative wheelchair clinics to the Hudson Valley and for veteran and senior audiences to provide more safe and reliable mobility. The organization also laid the groundwork to bring a local Bronx provider under the CP auspice to provide even deeper comprehensive supports in the borough. On Staten Island, a new television program with Community Media of Staten Island highlights local resources.
The CP team also sought to further awareness of our work in new spaces while making inroads to deepen relationships among elected officials. The result was a steady stream of New York City and State representatives seeing the influence of CP Unlimited first-hand and coming away with new partners in the field. This was personified by the announcement of the “Traveling with Dignity” act (bill #7697), mandating adult changing facilities at public venues throughout the state, by NYS Senator Peter Harckham at our Hudson Valley setting.
Show you believe in the rights and dignity of all people by supporting CP Unlimited’s mission today.
Simultaneously, we looked to make it a more meaningful year here for our CP Family. We reconstituted our Employee Longevity events celebrating the tenure of hundreds of team members, offered new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming, and made strategic investments in staff and technology to keep us connected and collaborating.
All of what we do is motivated by our shared promise to the people we support, and we thank you for being a part of these efforts. On behalf of CP Unlimited, we wish you a new year of health, happiness, and success.
Sincerely,
Joseph M. Pancari
