February 26: Press Conference in Albany on Supporting the Traveling with Dignity Act
Harckham, Burdick and Advocates Announce Action Advancing Accessibility- the Traveling with Dignity Act
Albany, NY – New York State Senator Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Chris Burdick will announce their new legislation, the “Traveling with Dignity Act,” at a special press conference at 12:00 PM (noon) on Monday, February 26, alongside leaders from CP Unlimited, plus members of the disability community, advocates and change makers.
The press conference will take place in the New York State Capitol on the Fourth Floor Lobby – Senate side.
The “Traveling with Dignity Act” was informed and prompted by conversations with CP Unlimited advocates and direct support professionals on issues around dignity, access and inclusion encountered by people with I/DD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) at large gatherings and public events.
The “Traveling with Dignity Act” will provide for height-adjustable adult changing tables to be made available for persons with disabilities, veterans, seniors or other individuals in public roadside rest areas, museums, public libraries, public buildings and amusement attractions.
