Amazing Aruba Beckons Comm Hab Participants
The work of Community Habilitation team members includes a lot of time spent accompanying their persons supported on adventures around the neighborhood- and sometimes out of the country too!
Every September, a big trip is planned for a crew of ISS residents receiving Comm Hab services to broaden their experiences, make memories, and teach new skills. Most recently, a voyage to the island paradise of Aruba was on the agenda and after a four-and-a-half-hour flight, feet went from walking on grey concrete to white sand. Joining CPU persons supported were the team from Creative LifeStyles, Inc.
Activities included snorkeling, swimming in the pool and ocean, dinners out, and basking in the sun. Residential Director Monique Anderson helped by giving swim lessons to persons supported and everyone enjoyed a sunset boat ride one night. One full day was spent exploring via a bus tour that took our participants rock climbing and to a private beach!
Past trips have included Disney World, Barcelona, Spain, Virginia Beach, and The Great Wolf Lodge. A cruise will be the next opportunity for passport stamps and tropical smoothies, taking place later this year.
