Through the Lens: New Images from the Progressive Visions Photo Club at The National Lighthouse Museum, Opens February 4, 2024
The National Lighthouse Museum, the leading maritime sentinel arts center, and CP Unlimited, a respected provider of supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will present a new photo exhibition at the Museum covering the grounds and interiors of the space as seen through the eyes of members of CP’s Progressive Visions Photo Club.
The exhibition, running through March 3, 2024, will feature approximately a dozen black and white and color images of local monuments, exteriors, and permanent displays captured on excursions to the area in late 2023. The Progressive Visions Photo Club is comprised of talented and creative amateur photographers with I/DD who shoot and develop images, alongside a love of photography and community engagement.
In addition to the exhibition, a kick-off event is planned for the morning of February 4 that will feature local leaders, Club photographers, and officials celebrating the partnership. Prints and items featuring imagery from the exhibition will be offered for sale during the public portion and permanently thereafter. Proceeds from purchases will support both The National Lighthouse Museum and CP Unlimited.
“This collaboration expands how people both view and participate in Museum projects, while raising awareness of the mission of CP Unlimited and the creative skills of their photographers.” said Linda Dianto, Executive Director of The National Lighthouse Museum.
“Through the Lens” is a unique public exhibition that showcases the talents and perspectives of the people we support.” said Jeremy Willinger, Chief Communications Officer at CP Unlimited. “We are proud to expand the CP presence in meaningful ways with committed local partners.”
