Celebrating the Life and Career of Tim Buyund at West Farms Center
There are many folks at CP Unlimited who make an outsized impact in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through their dedication, work, passion, and good humor.
For Timothy Buyund, CP’s Coordinator of Support Services at our West Farms Center in The Bronx, his role was all encompassing and he was an ever-present force as he walked the halls, responded to any and all emergencies big and small, and kept the operation going as a hub of all things I/DD support. The Agency was stronger for having him on the team for 41 successful years, so his passing was felt by our entire Bronx team- and throughout the organization.
To honor his life and career, we came together to hold a memorial program and share stories on September 28. Some of the people we support created a photo montage which was proudly displayed at the front of West Farms, and many of his colleagues were able to talk about Tim’s legacy of love and the missed sound of his jingling keys. We also dedicated our Grab N’ Go Cafe in Tim’s name, as this community space where people with I/DD work and engage with our Bronx neighbors encapsulates Tim’s efforts to create fulfilling lives for the people we support while making it a more inclusive and accepting world.
Below, we offer the full program stream, a photo slideshow, and a video of Marta (one of our fabulous persons supported) singing a powerful eulogy.
Thank you to everyone who showed up and remembered Tim Buyund, including his family members who were able to be with us. May his memory be a blessing and may all of us continue Tim’s important efforts in our own communities.
