Honoring World Cerebral Palsy Day, October 6th, 2022
A message from CP Unlimited President & CEO Joseph M. Pancari:
On this World Cerebral Palsy Day, CP Unlimited joins with fellow Agencies—alongside people living with cerebral palsy, their families, allies, and supporters—united both in our vision to raise awareness and work to create a world where those with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the same rights, access, and opportunities as anyone else.
While today, the first two letters in our name stand for “Constructive Partnerships,” CP Unlimited was launched in 1946 by a group of parent-advocates of children diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
In fact, for most of our history, we were known as Cerebral Palsy Associations of NYS (“CP of NYS”). This history is not lost on anyone here, and all of what we do is motivated by our dedication to people—like the 17 million worldwide living with CP—impacted by I/DD.
To our friends in the field and around the globe, and to all those whose efforts, together, bring about needed change: Thank you for your support and your strength.
