The Adult Education Series provides multi-sensory educational offerings to people we support in our residential programs to help them achieve fulfilling lives.
All students attend classes virtually through Teams and have opportunities to meet in-person several times throughout each course. Courses are broken up in 8-week sessions and rotate throughout the year. Students are encouraged and motivated to help lead the direction of study and develop independent skills they can apply to daily life and interactions.

Practical coursework and advice on money and technology are combined with recreational pursuits to form a comprehensive calendar of classes, activities, and experiences that educate and delight, including:
Social Hour
Music, singing, drawing, writing, ornament-making, painting, games, and more are offered for people at Social Hour!
Designed to be a special time for togetherness, Social Hour fosters knowledge-building and friendship among residents and the CP network via online platforms and group fun.
Patrick Emproto Book Club
Patrick was of the first members of the Book Club who had a dream to learn how to read. He joined all of CP’s Adult Education Series Reading Classes and Book Clubs and accomplished his goal.
After his passing in September of 2022, his fellow club members wanted to name the Book Club after him, in his honor. Book Club Members participate in discussions about adult-level titles and enjoy special group events like the annual book drive promoting literacy in underserved communities.
Budgeting, Money Management, and Life Skills
We encourage and help the people we support become active members of their local communities.
Classes exploring how to shop, pay bills, make change, balance a budget, and strategies to save and access money deepen this suite of useful skills for a lifetime.
Baking and Cooking Class
People we support living in CP residences have access to full kitchens outfitted with their safety and mobility in mind. On-site support staff create meal plans in consultation with CP nutritionists. Healthy-options are used and substituted wherever possible to show students beneficial eating habits. Students make shopping lists and go out to buy ingredients with their Direct Care Counselor, while learning about coupons and money-management, and enjoy being an active part of their local community.
CP Unlimited’s Baking and Cooking classes help the people we support make the daily meal-making process an engaging opportunity for learning and success.
American Sign Language Classes
For our newest class, people we support with I/DD will learn finger spelling, common words/phrases, and how to sign “What a Wonderful World” (one of their favorite karaoke songs).
We are happy to provide this new style of communications to better provide opportunities for speech and understanding between individuals with I/DD, their DSPs, and others.
Recreational Events
Whenever possible, CP Unlimited will organize recreational group outings to area sporting/cultural centers to highlight our work and benefit the Agency’s vital mission.
Each year, people we support enjoy a variety of these memorable experiences.
