Rally in the Valley Draws 1,000+ to Support Disability Rights
CP Unlimited sponsored and showed up in force to support the Rally in the Valley at Boulders Stadium in Hudson Valley, New York.
Over 150 of the CPU family were able to join with the large crowd who demanded a 7.8% rate increase in reimbursement. The bump is vital to stabilize agency operations and counter rising costs of care, including staff wages, food, housing, insurance, utilities, and more.
Penny Pagliaro, Executive Director of CP Unlimited Hudson Valley spoke at the rally in an empowering speech that showcased the needs of parents and providers. As part of her remarks, she said: “My children are part of the 131,000 receiving services from OPWDD. Two of my five children have disabilities. Individuals with developmental disabilities and their families depend on Medicaid funded services for their needs. My children love their DSPs and they are an important part of their lives. Today we ask the governor and the Federal Government to continue to invest in disability services and Medicaid. We will not go back!”
