How We See It: Photography Workshop Develops Creativity
How We See It: New Images from the Progressive Visions Photo Club and West Farm Photo Works is an exhibition, open through August 31, of creative photography by persons supported by CP Unlimited on display at Positive Exposure Gallery in East Harlem.
As part of the Agency’s efforts to both share information about the exhibition and help develop the inspiration and talents of additional people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we held an open workshop featuring a lesson on digital cameras, a local sojourn to take street photography, and an overview of photo-editing tools.
Participants from across the I/DD field were invited, and each was able to receive personalized instruction and on-scene advice from photo club director Jim Interlicchio as they explored upper 5th Avenue and Central Park during a simply gorgeous Saturday afternoon! Photo subjects included trees and plants, the Harlem Meer, dogs, groups of people playing jump rope, street scenes, and people going about their day. The panoply of photographic possibilities was pleasantly up to par!
Workshop attendees came back to Positive Exposure to select their best images from the outing and learn how to enhance and bring out the major details of their photos, with the best of each being digitally included in the exhibition.
